The CollectEve (Part 2)

As promised last week here are some details on wines that I enjoyed at the inaugural tasting of The CollectEve:

Although I am sure I have come across the name – Laura David – I don’t remember tasting her wines. Her 9 hectare domaine was created in 2017 based in Lussault-sur-Loire in the east of the Montlouis appellation. This Methode Traditionelle Extra Brut Non Dosé spends at least 9 months sur latte. It is crisp, clean and well made and, although perhaps a little bit short, a good sparkling wine.

2020 Le Clos des Molières, Jasnières, Domaine de la Roche Bleue, Sébastien Cornille

The 2020 Clos des Molières from this fine Jasnières domaine has an attractive honeyed nose, rich concentration, mouth-filling texture and a long finish. I also tasted Sébastien’s peppery 2022 La Belle d’Aunis (VDF).

Domaine Sérol run by Stéphane and Carine Sérol has a strong claim to be the leading estate in the Côte Roannaise appellation both for their appellation wines and IGP. The 2022 Oudan is very attractive to drink now with its medium concentration and soft texture not forgetting its good length. Certainly this is a bottle to share with friends.

Léa Delacourcelle with her 2022 Gamette (Côte Roannaise) , which is made by Stéphane Sérol exclusively for Déjà Bu Wines. Gamette is a very easy drinking, juicy wine with herbal and spicy notes with just a touch of tannin in the finish.

Two fine bottles here – 2020 Romo, Cour-Cheverny, Domaine des Huards and 2019 Vent de Spilite, Anjou, Domaine Ogereau from two very good domaines who have long been making fine wine. Emmanuel Ogereau having taken over from his parents has taken the wines to a new level.

The 2020 Romo (100% Romorantin) has some honeyed notes, good weight and concentration with a long finish. Although it can be drunk now it ideally needs more time or would benefit from being decanted a couple of hours before serving.

The concentrated 2019 Vent de Spilite has lovely purity, precision and length. This 100% Chenin has a great potential to age if you can resist pulling the cork!

2021 Grolleau, Anjou, Ogereau is definitely an ideal wine to share with friends – not one to analyse but to simply enjoy its easy juicy black fruits along with its lowish 11.5% alcohol.
