The CollectEve (Part 1)

Yesterday I went to the launch of ‘The CollectEve’ for their first trade and press tasting at 67 Pall Mall. The Collecteve is a fascinating group of 12 wine importing companies all run by women – hence the name. ‘Sisters are doin’ it for themselves !’

Basket Press Wines run by Zainab Makeriková – wines from the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary and Solvenia
Déjà Bu Wines – run by Léa Delacourcelle – range of French wines
Ealing Wine Cellars – run by Caroline Brangé – France and Italy
Emile Wines – run by Rebecca Perry – France, California
Marta Wine – run by Marta Bowers – Portugal, France, Spain, Croatia and Austria
Museum of Sake – run by Natsuki Kikuya – Sake
Okanagan Roots – run by Halle Stephens – Okanagan (British Columbia, Canada)
Special Cases – run by Elise Brugues – France
Sustainable Wine Solutions – run by Muriel Chatel – Spain, France, Italy, Argentina
The Wine Barn – run by Iris Ellmann – the Doyenne of the Collecteve specialising in Germany
Vinos Latinos – run by Carla Bertellotti – Argentina, Chile and Uruguay
Vins Clairs – Claire Thevenot – France

As there were several hundred wines on show I naturally concentrated on the Loire wines that were available – many of the producers I knew but some I didn’t but all interesting and individual wines. Tasting notes etc. will come in next week’s post.
